What is income-restricted housing?
Income-restricted programs set rent at levels affordable to households earning below a certain percentage of the Area Median Income (AMI), ensuring quality housing remains accessible across income levels.
What is AMI?
Area Median Income is the midpoint of household incomes in a metro area, calculated annually by HUD. Affordable units are typically restricted to households earning 30%, 50%, 60%, or 80% of AMI.
Eligibility
Eligibility is based on total household income and household size. Each listing shows:
- The AMI percentage the unit is restricted to
- Income limits by household size
- The program name governing the restriction
You'll provide proof of income (pay stubs, tax returns, or employer letter) during the application.
